Noisy Extractor

  • Ensure the correct size ducting has been used, 150mm or 220x90mm (We recommend Compair ridged ducting).
  • Make sure there are no restrictions within the ducting outlet.
  • Make sure the minimum amount of 90 degree bends have been used.
  • Make sure the maximum ducting length hasn’t been exceeded – 6 metres and reduce by 1 metre for every 90 degree bend used.
  • Make sure the hood has been secured to the wall correctly as per instructions (fixing screws used to secure).
  • Make sure cable hasn’t been dropped into motor area.
  • Make sure back draught flaps open and close freely. Reducing ducting will prevent these from functioning correctly. (result – loss of suction and increased Noise)
  • In re-circulation mode make sure the vents/grilles are not covered. Downdraft models make sure that there is a vent or cut out in the plinth to allow air to escape and re-circulate back into the room.
  • Juddering noise – please check the downdraft is central and correctly fitted into work top, make sure fixing brackets at the bottom are central and not pushing or pulling the appliance out of square or twisting the body.

Poor Extraction

  • Check that the hood has correct size ducting, we recommend using 150mm or 220x90mm from our Compair range. (ridged ducting is ideal)
  • Make sure there are no restrictions within the ducting outlet.
  • Make sure the minimum amount of 90 degree bends have been used.
  • Make sure the maximum ducting length hasn’t been exceeded – 6 metres and reduce by 1 metre for every 90 degree bend used.
  • Make sure the downdraft is no more than 50mm from hob.
  • Make sure back draught flaps open and close freely. Reducing ducting will prevent these from functioning correctly. (result – loss of suction and increased Noise)
  • Make sure customer is switching hood on 10 minutes before cooking and leaving on 10-15 minutes after.
  • Advise customer to always reduce boiling water to simmer and use lids.
  • In re-circulation mode it is more important to use lids on pots/pans to reduce steam/humidity in the room.
  • Make sure you are using the correct size motor for the room size. We advise the air is changed at least 10 times an hour.
